Vases

File Under : How Does Your Garden Grow?

I don’t want to make just beautiful objects, I strive to make work that makes sense.

When I started making these flat sided vases, I wanted the print to interact with the contents, or the vase itself in some way. The vintage NASA photo, the swimming lesson: the form serves a purpose beyond a vessel for flowers or greenery. (Of course, my love of mixing patterns also took over.)

The prints are done via photo lithography. The vases are sometimes slab-built, sometimes slip-cast. I’m forever trying to learn and use different techniques with clay.

I will occasionally have these in my shop, so take a peek!
