Simple Motion

File Under : Magic

If I don’t know how to do something, I will figure it out.

Motion is something I wanted to be able to do for myself and for clients, and so I took some online tutorials on how to do make things move using Photoshop. And it turns out that making 2D illustrations come alive is extremely satisfying.

Brushes! Illustration! Movement!

This was my first ever try creating a full-on digital drawing in Photoshop from start to finish, done for my client Dolcezza Gelato. I’ve always used a Wacom pen, so I had that going for me, but all of the options for Photoshop brushes available felt very daunting. Luckily, I selected a good collection from True Grit and quickly got comfortable with them. I ended up creating this freezer full of gelato goodness! It was shared as an Instagram Reel on their social.

On a very related note: Go now to check out Dolcezza in your nearest Whole Foods freezer! They’re all delicious as heck, but Mascarpone and Berries might be my favorite.

Ooooh… Red Velvet!

After the Whole Foods freezer project got me comfortable with brushes, I tried out even more to create this illustration and GIF for Dolcezza’s limited edition Red Velvet gelato. The flavor is, in fact, da bombe.

I’ve also done Stop Motion Video!

I'm thankful for the creative coworkers I’ve had at NOBODY that helped me make this stop motion video for Nando's PERi-PERi. For a chicken company from South Africa, it's a stretch to make a connection to an American holiday revolving around a different kind of poultry. And so it was born, "A better way to heat up your leftovers", promoting their signature PERi-PERi sauce.

Between prop selection, grocery shopping, cooking an entire meal, photographing, and then post-production... 3 days of work for 8 seconds of video was totally worth it!
